Your kids will be very excited as each day you cut a loop to reveal the decoration inside. When the wreath is completely opened, it's Christmas!

You Need:

  • Green Poster Board
  • Green Paper
  • countdown_wreath2.gif (17070 bytes)Green and Red Curling Ribbon
  • Glue
  • Glitter
  • Small Red Pompons
  • Scissors
  • Large 10" Dinner Plate and Smaller 8" Plate to trace around

Instructions:

Trace around large dinner plate on the oak tag. Center the smaller plate inside and trace around it. Cut circles out so you have a wreath shape. Cut 10 strips of green paper 2" x 8½". Form each into a loop and glue at overlap.

Cut 30 pieces of green curling ribbon 18" in length. Curl each piece using the blade of a scissors. Dip each piece into glue and then into glitter. Spread a little glue inside each loop near the overlap. Place 3 curls inside each loop on the glue.

Arrange loop on your oak tag wreath. Glue into them into place.  Add a small red pompon in each. Use red curling ribbon to make a bow for the top of the wreath. Use a small piece to make a hanger.

Ten days before Christmas cut open your first loop. Trim a little on both sides. Open one more each day.
